Our Story

From Konki’s Kitchen to Your Community

Authentic Guatemalan recipes, a grandmother’s legacy, and two women with a dream to share it all.

Our Story

We are Stephanie and Laytania (Tay for short), the founders of Antojitos de Guatemala and the proud faces behind every dish we serve across St. Charles County and Wentzville, Missouri.
Our story doesn’t start with a business plan. It starts in a small kitchen in Retalhuleu, a town nestled outside the capital of Guatemala, where Stephanie’s grandmother Consuelo lovingly nicknamed Konki by grandkids who couldn’t quite pronounce her name when they were little cooked the kind of food that stays with you for a lifetime.
Konki’s recipes weren’t written for restaurants. They were written for family. For Sunday gatherings, for celebrations, for the comfort of people she loved. Her tamales wrapped in banana leaves, her chuchitos topped with tomato sauce and cheese, her slow-cooked frijoles negros and golden fried plantains, these were the dishes that drew us together.
When Stephanie and Tay decided to launch Antojitos de Guatemala, the answer to why was simple: this food is too good, and this heritage is too rich, to keep to ourselves.

What Drives us

More Than a Food Truck

We didn’t just want to sell food. We wanted to introduce the St. Louis area to something most people have never experienced, authentic Guatemalan cuisine. Not Mexican food. Not Latin fusion. The real thing. The recipes Konki wrote down by hand, the techniques passed from one generation to the next, the flavors that can only come from cooking with patience and purpose.
Every time we open our window and hand you a plate, we’re sharing a piece of Guatemala with you. A piece of Retalhuleu. A piece of Konki’s kitchen.

Meet Stephanie & Tay

Stephanie: Founder, and the keeper of Konki’s recipe book. Stephanie’s passion for cooking was shaped in her grandmother’s kitchen and has only grown stronger with every dish she serves. Her mission is simple, honor the recipes, honor the heritage, and never cut corners.

Tay (Laytania): Co-founder, partner, and the driving force behind bringing Antojitos de Guatemala to life. Tay’s belief in Stephanie’s cooking, and in sharing Guatemalan culture with their community turned a dream into a food truck that serves thousands across the St. Charles and Wentzville area.
